Niara Jordan is a visual artist from Mount Vernon, NY. A self-taught painter who enjoys exploring different mediums, she has presented work in group exhibitions including “Straight Lick” (2021, online and in-person, Brooklyn Museum) and “Single Fare 4” (2017, in-person, New York Academy of Art). She has also curated exhibitions such as “BLACK: Welcome To The Renaissance” (in-person, 2022) and “The Simmer Down” (virtual, 2020). She gravitated to Yonkers Arts as a creative wanting to contribute to other creatives and to those spaces. Beyond art, she enjoys growing food and developing programs, and she hopes to make accessible art an “everyday happening” locally, in our homes, and beyond.
