Division of Criminal Justice Services
The New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services' Project RISE Initiative—standing for Respond, Invest, Sustain, Empower—is a state-funded program designed to reduce gun violence and enhance public safety in communities disproportionately affected by it across New York State.
Yonkers Arts is grateful to be part of the RISE Initiative and to receive funding that helps us build capacity within our organization. This funding enables us to offer creative and educational programs, projects, and events to underserved communities. Through the RISE Initiative, we are able to provide at-risk youth with a safe space to explore their creative interests. Our offerings include programs such as film and content creation, creative writing for therapeutic expression, the Youth Mural Group (which teaches mural skills), performances like The Family Affair, and the Concert Series, among many others.

New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA)
The New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) is a state agency dedicated to fostering and advancing the arts, culture, and creativity throughout New York State. Established in 1960, it was the first state government agency in the United States to provide arts subsidies. NYSCA’s mission is to ensure that all New Yorkers benefit from the transformative power of the arts in their communities, education, economic growth, and daily lives.
Through support from NYSCA’s YR2024 Capital Improvement Grant, Yonkers Arts was able to purchase and install a state-of-the-art screen and projector system in the Yonkers Arts Project Space, enhancing our ability to serve the community.
We are also grateful for the NYSCA YR2025 Support for Organizations grant to expand our operating capacity in staffing to better serve the community with programs, tools, and resources pursuant to our mission.
